The story of Gotcha

Gothenburg Chartering was founded in 1986 by Michael Kjellberg and Hans Fredin. Whereas Hans Fredin retired some years ago, Michael Kjellberg is still active in the company as broker and chairman of the board.

Since 1986 the packaged timber from The Baltic to North Africa has been the core business of the company but through the years we have expanded our activities and we are today covering all aspects within dry cargo chartering from coasters to capesize.

We are presently 8 brokers, most of us partners in the company, working from our modern premises overlooking the biggest port in Scandinavia, Gothenburg.

Our markets

We work within most areas of the dry-cargo market such as bulk, break-bulk, ro-ro and sale & purchase. Since long one of the company's corner stones is the chartering of forest products from the Baltic region to North Africa and the Mediterranean.

We are also involved in the handy, supra- up to panamax segments working closely with Owners, Operators and Charterers active mainly in the Atlantic basin. Many of our close customers are based in the Scandinavia/Baltic region and include most of the largest forest companies, sawmills and trading houses.

In the steel and raw material sector we work closely with several major steelmills and mining companies in Scandinavia and Europe.
